The GHMBC Summer Retreats took place from July 11-13th, 2022 at McLain Lodge in Brandon, Mississippi and on July 10-12th, 2023 at Lake Tiak-O’Khata in Louisville, Mississippi.

Teachers participated in teacher training, along with other sessions that embody the GHMBC program. For example, the participants were able to learn about establishing an anti-bias classroom that aligns with Unit 2 of the curriculum. They took part in yoga classes, made smores at the campfire, went on hikes and attended a dance party. Additionally, teachers were able to connect with other teachers from schools in the GHMBC program and offer encouragement and support as they embark on either a first or returning year with the program.
